NDA (National defence Academy) is having mainly three wings named Army, Navy and Air force. Every year vacancies are there for all these three wings. UPSC conducts NDA exam twice a year for recruitment named NDA-I and NDA-II. After qualifying the NDA exam, candidates are required to clear the SSB interview round also.

The candidates appearing in qualifying examinations are also eligible to appear in exams, however, they should submit their passing certificates once the exam result is declared. NDA is only for unmarried male. In case of selection, the candidate should remain unmarried until the training is over.

NDA exam pattern:

The NDA exam will be of OMR (Optical Mark Reader) type. Questions will be MCQ type with for options of each question. The candidates are required to use black ball pen for marking correct answers on the OMR sheet. These OMR sheets are scanned thru Optical Mark reader and automatically the data is transferred to the computer. Hence it is advisable that the candidate should mark the answer properly by filling the circle with black ball pen. Any other pen-like ink pen or pencil should not be used. Moreover, only one option should be marked, as marking more than one option will be considered as wrong answer and negative marks will be given a penalty.

There are two independent papers each of 150 minutes. First one is NDA (Math) and second is NDA (General. The NDA (Math) will have 120 questions each of 2.5 maximum marks for the correct answer and 0.33% (-0.83) negative marks for the wrong answer. NDA (General Ability) will have 150 questions (50 from English and 100 from General Knowledge) each of 4 marks for a correct answer and 0.33% (-1.33) mark for the wrong answer.
